PhotoPests
Minute, elongated insects that scrape plant cells and suck out the contents, leaving silvery streaks on leaves. They can transmit viruses and are difficult to control.
Looks like this
- Silvery streaks or patches on leaves
- Tiny black specks (frass) on leaf surfaces
- Distorted, papery new growth
Solve it with Vitaponix
Our nutrients don't kill pests or mould — they keep plants strong while you follow the fix below.
How to fix it
- Apply blue sticky traps to monitor and catch adults
- Spray with insecticidal soap or spinosad on leaf undersides
- Release predatory mites (Amblyseius cucumeris) for biological control
Why it happens
- Warm, dry conditions
- Infested clones or nearby outdoor plants
- Open vents without insect screens
Prevent it
- Quarantine and inspect all new plants
- Install fine mesh on intake vents
- Follow the official feeding chart humidity targets for each growth stage
Doses and targets come from the official Vitaponix feeding chart. Vitaponix nutrients are plant nutrition, not pesticides or fungicides.
